Soil stabilisation for road construction

Soil stabilisation technology

TERRA-3000® is a natural, ecologically clean stabilisation process for all road categories.

Why TERRA-3000®

The existing soil becomes the base course

Roads deteriorate through water, frost and point loads. TERRA-3000® compacts the existing soil into a load-bearing, waterproof layer, faster, cheaper and more durable than conventional construction.

Benefits of the technology

Construction time 2 – 3× shorter

The surface layer can be applied the next day instead of after weeks.

Construction time 2 – 3× shorter

Surface layer the next day instead of after weeks.

Up to 50% less material

Strong stabilisation without large aggregate imports.

Up to 60% lower transport costs

Far less logistics, a smaller CO₂ footprint. Depends on the location of the quarries.

More than double the load capacity

Loads far above the level of ordinary roads.

Water and frost resistant

Weather independent, can be applied in rain and wind.

Environmentally safe

Natural product, no impact on groundwater.

Process

Three steps on site

No excavation. The work is done with standard road construction machinery: grader, tanker, soil stabiliser and rollers of 20 tonnes or more.

Soil sample under the microscope1

Soil analysis

  • Grain size distribution and moisture of the base course
  • Quantity of other fractions (sand, gravel)
  • Layer thickness and required amount of TERRA-3000®
Soil stabiliser mixing in the solution2

Applying TERRA-3000®

  • Prepare the working solution and apply it with a stabiliser or sprayer
  • Mix thoroughly with the soil
  • Compact intensively with rollers of 20 tonnes or more
Roller applying the protective layer3

Protective layer

  • Before the final roller pass, once the profile is shaped
  • Milled asphalt, stone screenings or gravel
  • Then asphalt or a simple reinforcement, depending on use

FAQ

In Comparison

How does TERRA-3000® differ from polymer stabilisers?

Polymer methods often also use cement or lime to bind the soil. TERRA-3000® is a catalytic ion exchanger that activates the natural binding forces of the existing soil, without cement, lime or polymer.

How does TERRA-3000® differ from traditional construction?

Traditionally, the ground is excavated down to frost depth and rebuilt with imported gravel. TERRA-3000® stabilises the existing soil on site without excavation, and the surface layer can be applied the next day.

Does TERRA-3000® work in desert regions?

Yes. In the laboratory of FH Münster University of Applied Sciences, pure desert sand was bound with TERRA-3000® under a simulated warm climate into a load-bearing layer that reliably meets the subgrade requirement. The existing sand thus becomes a load-bearing substructure.

About us

TERRA-3000® from Berlin

SL Coating Vertrieb GmbH is the exclusive distributor of TERRA-3000®, the soil stabilisation system by TERRA-SYSTEM from Austria.

We support projects from the first soil sample to the test track and work with local construction partners. On request, TERRA-3000® can be produced in your own country, which also saves delivery and customs costs.
